Original Japanese female figures of the Edo period. These are full colour images taken from the Ukiyo-e, woodblock prints of Japan's "floating world" of fashion, entertainment, and sensual pleasures. The works of famed 17th-century printmaker Kitagawa Utamaro are well represented, along with those of other popular artists of the Edo period. The 117 images also depict noblewomen and peasants. Images include Geisha with fans, candles, cups, with Samurai, with clothes and servants, in discussion and in hundreds of other poses, all of which show contemporary kimono, fashions and fabrics.
