The wonderful posters contained in this book are taken from the golden age of the railways, when companies such as the Great Western and the Southern Railway advertised the glories of the resorts, and the lifestyles of the day. The quality of the colour images is tremendously high as the finest poster artists of the day received commissions to promote the English landscape as a leisure experience. Scarborough, Skegness or Southend-On-Sea have an incredible elegance in these images, a real sense of other-worldliness and the hopes and aspirations of another age. From an age where 'speed, comfort and frequency' could be a railway slogan - now that's nostalgia!
