Jose Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913) was Mexico's most illustrious graphic artist. Here are some of his best engravings, from the 1930 'Monografia', with explanatory notes and commentary. The illustrations commemorate disasters, political events, crimes, miracles; cavorting skeletons for the Mexican Day of the Dead; the pleasures and pains of the people, from a proletarian perspective.
