Steinlen cats gathers in one volume the most varied and best of Steinlen's scattered sketches, panels and designs of cats. Steinlen (1859-1923) depicted all levels of Parisian life but nearly always found space and an excuse for his favourite anial, whose feline grace became his signature. The drawings show cats, toms and kittens abroad and at rest, in repose, stretching, licking, preening and stalking. The cat drawings in this book are reproduced from two rare volumes: a 1933 collection of previously unpublished animal drawings (Chats et autres betes) and a turn of the century album of picture stories without words (Des Chats).
