Originally published in 1882 this wonderful book serves the same purpose now as it did then: to provide artists and designers with a rich source of ornamentation adapted from the decoration of medieval buildings. Among the designs are elaborate and richly coloured diaper patterns for walls, brocade patterns in gold on dark backgrounds, medallions for ornamental devices, piillars and arch moldings rendered for wall decoration, and elaborate bands and borders.
